The animated series “The Legend of Lara Croft” on Netflix is reportedly concluding after its upcoming second season. This news comes from a report by Variety, indicating the show`s next season will be its final one.
The series initially premiered in October 2024 and swiftly secured a renewal for a second season, which is now scheduled to debut on December 11th.
Hayley Atwell, celebrated for her roles in “Mission: Impossible” and “Agent Carter,” provides the voice for the iconic Lara Croft. Karen Fukuhara, known from “The Boys,” voices Lara`s close friend, Sam. Mirroring the beloved video game franchise, “The Legend of Lara Croft” follows Lara on thrilling global expeditions as she seeks out mysterious and ancient relics.
“The Legend of Lara Croft” is produced by Legendary TV. Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg of Story Kitchen, the minds behind the successful “Sonic the Hedgehog” film series, are also involved in its production. Noah Hughes from Crystal Dynamics serves as an executive producer, bringing his expertise from the game world.
This announcement closely follows Amazon MGM Studios` recent reveal that actress Sophie Turner will star in a new “Tomb Raider” TV series, developed by the critically acclaimed Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator of “Fleabag.”
Regarding the “Tomb Raider” video game franchise, Crystal Dynamics is actively engaged in developing the next main installment. Despite the studio undergoing recent layoffs after the cancellation of another project, “Perfect Dark,” it was confirmed at the time that the “Tomb Raider” game project remained unaffected.
