During Gamescom Opening Night Live, developers 11 Bit Studios and Digital Sun officially revealed that Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, the anticipated sequel to the 2018 action-RPG Moonlighter, will be available in early access starting October 23. This follow-up promises to expand on its unique blend of roguelike dungeon exploration and intricate shop management simulation.
A new trailer debuted during the event, offering an updated glimpse into the dual nature of Moonlighter 2`s adventure. It showcased the protagonist, Will, meticulously arranging found relics in his shop, preparing them for sale to the local townsfolk. Immediately following, the trailer transitioned to Will venturing into mysterious and dangerous Vaults, the source of these valuable artifacts, highlighting the core loop of acquisition and commerce.
The early access version launching in October is set to include three distinct biomes, each featuring its own set of unique obstacles and adversaries. Players will have the opportunity to discover and sell over 120 different relics. Will`s shop will also be highly customizable, allowing players to adjust display areas, set relic prices, and personalize the space to their liking.
The official announcement further detailed that the early access period will encompass nearly 100 perks, an enhanced combat system, and “most” of the main storyline for Moonlighter 2. The developers clarified that while the game is “nearly complete,” some elements still require refinement, hence the decision to launch in early access first to gather player feedback and ensure a polished final product.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will commence its early access journey on October 23, accessible on PC via Steam and also available day one through PC Game Pass.
