Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Unveiled for 2026 Release

During Nintendo`s inaugural Partner Direct event following the Switch 2`s launch, Capcom officially announced Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. This newest installment in the beloved spin-off series, which began on the Nintendo 3DS, once again casts players in the unique role of a `rider` rather than a traditional `hunter.` Players will embody the sole Rathalos rider within the fantastical world of Azuria. While the reveal featured captivating in-game cinematics, no actual gameplay footage was presented. The game is scheduled for a 2026 release.

A press release accompanying the announcement details that this third title delves into the `story of two nations on the path to ruin`: Azuria and Vermeil. A newly discovered egg, prominently featured in the game`s trailer, initially offers a glimmer of hope amidst the conflict. However, this hope takes an ominous turn as the egg hatches into twin Rathalos bearing the identical mark of the twin Skyscale Rathalos, figures described as `portents of destruction that echo a devastating civil war fought two centuries ago.`

The player character, an heir to Azuria, is dedicated to protecting both the monsters and inhabitants of the land. A significant `life-changing event` compels them to embark on a perilous journey towards `the forbidden land beyond the northern Meridian.` During their quest, they are joined by Eleanor, the princess of the rival nation, Vermeil, who is driven by her growing apprehension regarding her sister, the Queen of Vermeil`s, true motives.

Furthermore, Capcom confirmed after the Direct event that Monster Hunter Stories 3 will not be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. The game is also slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, broadening its accessibility to a wider audience.
