At the Game Developers Conference 2026, Microsoft announced to developers that, in the future, the most effective way to create games for Xbox would be to develop them for PC.

Xbox Vice President Jason Ronald further detailed plans for tighter integration between the console ecosystem and PCs. He revealed that the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) interface, currently available on handheld devices like the ROG Xbox Ally, is set to roll out to all Windows 11 devices starting in April 2026. The deployment will commence in selected regions before expanding globally.

This interface will enable users to seamlessly transition between productivity tasks and gaming, offering a full-screen Xbox experience optimized for controller input, all while preserving the open nature of the Windows ecosystem.

“We see PC becoming an increasingly important part of the Xbox experience. We are bringing the best elements of Xbox directly into Windows to make it a great operating system for gaming.”
