Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Receives Age Rating, Indicating Potential Release Nears

For fans eagerly awaiting updates on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, recent developments suggest its release might be closer than anticipated. The highly anticipated game has just received an age rating, often a strong indicator that a launch is imminent.

Industry observer VGC noted that Metroid Prime 4 has appeared on South Korea`s classification board, receiving a rating of `12 and up` due to mild violence. While the listing offered no further details about the game`s content, its appearance strongly implies that Metroid Prime 4 is nearing completion. Current speculation points towards a possible holiday season release later this year.

Furthermore, VGC also reports concurrent rumors of an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation, where many expect an official release date for the game to be announced.

The development journey for Metroid Prime 4 has been extensive. First revealed at E3 in 2017, the project faced challenges, including developer changes and at least one complete overhaul, before being re-unveiled with the `Beyond` subtitle in 2024. Since then, details have slowly emerged, from initial hands-on previews earlier this year to a peculiar London Underground advertisement that mistakenly declared the game`s immediate availability.

It is now anticipated that Metroid Prime 4 will launch by the close of 2025, with availability expected on both the original Nintendo Switch, the platform it was initially announced for, and its upcoming successor, the Switch 2.
