The highly anticipated game, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, first announced in 2017, is finally nearing its release. Nintendo has reassured Metroid fans that the game will launch this year for both Switch 2 and the original Switch, dispelling any fears of further delays.
Ahead of its upcoming appearance at Fan Expo Canada this month, Nintendo confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be playable. The company stated it will be `available later in 2025` alongside other Switch 2 titles. This is not the first public hands-on opportunity for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Nintendo`s announcement solidifies the game`s release within the next five months.
The exact launch date within this period remains unconfirmed. Nintendo has adopted a strategic approach to spacing out its first-party Switch 2 releases, starting with Mario Kart World in June, followed by Donkey Kong Bananza in July, Drag x Drive in August, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A slated for October 15. If this pattern continues, it is highly probable that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will arrive during the lucrative holiday season, positioning it as a key title for the Switch 2, especially considering the console already boasts a growing install base of 6 million users.
This release will mark the end of a prolonged development cycle for Nintendo. The company decided to reboot the project in 2019 after it failed to meet their expected quality standards under previous developer Bandai Namco. The game was officially re-revealed in 2024, and since then, limited new gameplay footage has showcased its action elements and mouse control capabilities.
