Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Reaches 1 Million Sales Milestone

The highly anticipated remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, has officially sold over one million copies. Konami announced this milestone via its official UK Twitter account, clarifying that these are internal sales figures rather than third-party verified numbers.

This achievement is particularly significant given the immense scrutiny and pressure the project faced, largely due to the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater`s iconic status. The sales performance is comparable to other remakes in the series and shows strong potential for further growth.

Beyond the sales numbers, this milestone is noteworthy for its historical context. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the first main series title released since franchise creator Hideo Kojima departed from Konami in 2015. The previous spin-off, Metal Gear Survive, developed post-Kojima, received a poor reception.

When asked about playing the remake earlier this summer, Hideo Kojima responded candidly and dismissively, simply stating, “No, I won`t,” with a laugh. These brief comments underscored the persistent tension between Kojima and Konami, a rift that continues to influence all Metal Gear-related projects since their separation.

David Hayter, the original American voice actor for Solid Snake, expressed a desire to have reprised his role in Delta. He wished to re-record much of the dialogue carried over from the 2004 game, believing he could bring improved acting skills and 20 years of additional experience to the performance.
