Fans of Mega Man have been eagerly awaiting a new game featuring their beloved hero, with the last major title being Mega Man 11 in 2018. However, the iconic franchise has not been forgotten. In a significant announcement, Capcom is set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mega Man Star Force series in 2026 by releasing the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, which will bring together all seven cherished titles.
The Mega Man Star Force series first launched in 2006, serving as a spiritual successor to the popular Mega Man Battle Network games. This new saga introduced players to a young protagonist named Geo Stelar, who transforms into a new iteration of Mega Man after merging with an extraterrestrial entity known as Omega-Xis. This transformation occurs two centuries after the events of the final Battle Network game. Their exciting adventures unfolded across seven action-RPG titles, concluding in 2008 with the release of Mega Man Star Force 3: Red Joker.

Given that the original games were designed for the Nintendo DS, the Legacy Collection will thoughtfully feature a dual-screen display style, presenting both screens simultaneously on a single TV display. Beyond simply porting the classics, Capcom is promising an `enhanced experience` for this collection, including the exciting possibility for players to trade cards and engage in online battles with each other.
While Capcom has confirmed the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection for a 2026 release, a precise launch date has yet to be announced. The collection will be widely available across multiple modern platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Earlier this year, Capcom reiterated the enduring importance of Mega Man as one of its core franchises. Although there is currently no word on a completely new game in the series, fans can look forward to another release: the original Mega Man animated series is scheduled to be released on Blu-ray on October 28.
