Marvel’s Wolverine Rumored for September State of Play Showcase

Four years after its initial announcement, Insomniac Games` highly anticipated Marvel`s Wolverine has remained largely under wraps, with only a brief teaser released. However, a recent report from Insider Gaming suggests that fans may finally get a closer look at the game. According to the report, a new trailer for Wolverine is complete and is being prepared for a potential debut at Sony`s next State of Play event, expected to take place in late September.

While Sony recently hosted a State of Play for 007: First Light and has not yet confirmed another event this month, Insider Gaming acknowledges the possibility that the Wolverine trailer could be held back until The Game Awards in December if a September showcase doesn`t materialize.

Insomniac has previously confirmed that Wolverine shares the same universe as their critically acclaimed Spider-Man titles on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game`s development faced challenges when unofficial spoilers surfaced following the 2023 Insomniac hack. Subsequent reports indicated that Insomniac made adjustments to the game post-hack, though the extent of these changes is unclear. Earlier rumors also hinted at an M-rating for Wolverine, aligning with the character`s signature violent nature.

Despite fervent fan anticipation, Insomniac boss Chad Dezern remained tight-lipped about Wolverine details earlier in 2025. He expressed a desire to share more but emphasized the need for discretion, humorously comparing their current silence to Logan himself.

“We would love to talk more about Wolverine. We have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road… As much as we have pent-up excitement, we got to hold on to it. So that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today.”

Marvel`s Wolverine is slated for release on PlayStation 5, but a specific launch date has yet to be announced.
