Preorders are now live for Mario Tennis Fever, the first brand-new Mario sports title exclusively for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Set to release on February 12, 2026, the game is priced at $70, aligning with most new Nintendo-published Switch 2 titles. Both physical and digital editions are available for preorder, with the digital version requiring an estimated 10GB download. While no specific preorder bonuses have been announced, such incentives are common for Nintendo games from various retailers.
The game was officially revealed during the Super Mario 40th Anniversary segment of the recent Nintendo Direct on September 12. This event also showcased Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, a compilation launching earlier on October 2 for both the original Switch and Switch 2.
Although Super Mario Strikers was recently added to the GameCube catalog for Switch Online + Expansion Pack members on Switch 2, Mario Tennis Fever marks the first all-new Mario sports game developed specifically for the new console.

Fever Rackets introduce a fresh gameplay mechanic. Players can choose from 30 unique rackets, each offering special effects like freezing the court or shrinking an opponent`s racket. The game boasts a roster of 38 Mushroom Kingdom characters and supports local and online multiplayer for up to four players, utilizing both traditional button/stick and Joy-Con 2 motion controls.
The new Adventure Mode features a peculiar storyline where Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, and Waluigi are transformed into babies by monsters on a mysterious island. Joined by an adult Donkey Kong, they must regain their tennis prowess to escape. Beyond the adventure, players can delve into modes such as Trial Towers, Tournament, Ranked Matches, Online Room, and Mix It Up. Mario Tennis Fever draws inspiration from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, incorporating Talking Flowers as commentators in Tournament Mode and introducing Wonder Effects to the Mix It Up Mode.
Mario Sports Games for Nintendo Switch
The last Mario Tennis game, Mario Tennis Aces, released back in 2018 and was the inaugural Mario sports title for the original Switch. Thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2`s backward compatibility, players can enjoy a trio of Mario sports games for Switch on the new console: Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Golf: Super Rush, and Mario Strikers: Battle League.

More Nintendo Direct Announcements
In addition to Mario Tennis Fever, the recent Nintendo Direct also showcased other anticipated titles. Preorders are open for games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, alongside new Amiibo figures.
