Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy Only Needed One Day To Become The Highest-Selling Set Ever

The Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy expansion, immensely popular among fans, achieved the status of the best-selling set in the game`s history in just one day. Its phenomenal success and rapid sell-out across most stores were announced during Hasbro`s Q2 2025 investor call.

Chris Cocks, Hasbro`s CEO, reported that the MTG – Final Fantasy set generated $200 million in revenue within 24 hours. For comparison, the previous major collaboration set, The Lord Of The Rings (2023), took six months to reach the same figure. Cocks noted that the company could have earned even more but was unable to meet the entire demand.

“We couldn`t produce enough,” Cocks stated, adding that production volumes were increased four times even before the release. “This print run significantly, by many very high double-digit percentages, surpassed any other we`ve ever done, and we left the market wanting more.”

For those still seeking Final Fantasy cards despite their current scarcity, it`s good to know that Hasbro plans to continue production of the set. Hasbro`s CFO, Gina Goetter, confirmed this, stating: “We are continuing to produce this set. We believe the set itself will have a very long tail.”

While players await the restock of Final Fantasy, other MTG sets are on the horizon. The space-opera themed Edge of Eternities set launches on August 1st, followed by the Marvel`s Spider-Man expansion on September 12th, and the Avatar: The Last Airbender set will conclude the year on November 21st.
