The 2012 game Lollipop Chainsaw introduced players to Juliet Starling, a spirited cheerleader who took on hordes of zombies with a chainsaw and other unconventional armaments. Apart from the 2024 remaster, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the franchise has largely been dormant. However, Lollipop Chainsaw is now set for a resurgence, with “new projects” on the horizon thanks to a significant agreement between Dragami Games and Nada Holdings.
The two companies have jointly revealed their intention to “jointly launch multiple new projects” rooted in the Lollipop Chainsaw universe. While specific details regarding these ventures remain undisclosed, potential endeavors include a brand-new game or even a film adaptation.
Shohei Sato, President and CEO of Dragami Games, extended his gratitude to the dedicated Lollipop Chainsaw fanbase for their unwavering support and commended Nada for providing Dragami with the opportunity to revisit the beloved series.
Sato stated, “The team at Nada Holdings shares a profound appreciation and enthusiasm for the title, coupled with extensive experience in intellectual property investment and development. Through this partnership, we eagerly anticipate working together to develop fresh projects that uphold the original`s essence and charm while introducing new value to the franchise.”
James Gunn, known as the co-CEO of DC Studios and director of the recently released Superman reboot, co-wrote the story for Lollipop Chainsaw, which was also co-directed by Goichi Suda, known as Suda51. It`s worth noting that neither Gunn nor Suda51 were involved in the development of the 2024 remaster. If another game project moves forward, it remains uncertain whether either of them would be able or willing to contribute.
