Limited Demo Announced for Nintendo’s Drag x Drive Wheelchair Basketball Game

Nintendo`s upcoming wheelchair basketball title, Drag x Drive, is set to offer a temporary demo experience before its official release next month.

Through the Nintendo Today app, Nintendo confirmed that “Drag x Drive: Global Jam” will be held on August 9th and 10th, spanning three distinct time windows. Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online will have the opportunity to engage in the online team-based multiplayer mode before the game`s full launch on August 14th.

Demo Session Times:

  • Saturday, August 9: 3 AM – 7 AM PT / 6 AM – 10 AM ET
  • Saturday, August 9: 5 PM – 9 PM PT / 8 PM – 11 PM ET
  • Sunday, August 10: 9 AM – 1 PM PT / 6 AM – 10 AM ET

Drag x Drive was initially unveiled during a Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation earlier this year, highlighting it as an in-house Nintendo development. This 3v3 sports simulation uses both Joy-Cons in a mouse-like configuration for wheelchair movement, while shooting mechanics involve motion-controlled gestures.

Remarkably, Drag x Drive stands out as the only first-party Switch 2 game to heavily utilize mouse controls, though alternative control schemes have not yet been confirmed. Other upcoming titles like Super Mario Party Jamboree Switch 2 Edition will introduce mouse-enabled minigames in its Jamboree TV mode, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will offer mouse control for aiming. Even third-party releases such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Civilization 7 will support mouse input.

Priced at an affordable $20, Drag x Drive is launching as a digital-only title, diverging from pricier first-party offerings like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. Pre-orders are currently open on the eShop.
