Nintendo has released another update for the Switch 2, marking its second hardware patch this July. This new firmware, version 20.3.0, primarily focuses on under-the-hood enhancements rather than major new features.
According to Nintendo, the official patch notes highlight “general system stability improvements” aimed at enhancing the user experience. This phrasing is typical for Nintendo`s system updates, even when more specific fixes are included. For example, an earlier July update for the Switch 2 also brought stability improvements alongside fixes for internet network searching and parental control transfer issues.
It remains to be seen if this latest Switch 2 update will specifically boost backward compatibility for certain games. Previously, dataminers suggested that a prior hardware patch significantly improved the performance of titles like Portal 2.
The Switch 2 console has already achieved remarkable success since its launch, breaking a nearly two-decade-old US hardware sales record in June. The hybrid system reportedly sold 1.6 million units in the US during its first month, setting a new record for a console launch. Its success isn`t limited to the US; the Switch 2 also broke a first-month sales record in Japan, moving an impressive 1.5 million units.
