Another game inspired by the hugely popular Pokémon series is soon to hit the market. This new project, titled Pickmon, also clearly draws significant inspiration from the recent phenomenon, Palworld.
Nintendo continues to accuse Palworld’s developers of plagiarism and patent infringement, yet this hasn’t deterred other studios from attempting to capture a share of this lucrative market segment. Pickmon represents another such attempt, openly blending core ideas from both Pokémon and Palworld.
In Pickmon, players will explore an expansive open world and collect various creatures. However, unlike the familiar Poké Balls, a card-based system is utilized for capturing these companions. The developers are placing a strong emphasis on crafting mechanics and base development. The game is slated to support multiplayer, cooperative play, and competitive PvP modes. Initially, the project is planned for a PC release, with subsequent versions targeting the PS5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
However, the project is already facing potential issues. The design of some creatures in Pickmon appears so strikingly similar to iconic Pokémon that its publisher, Networkgo, risks facing legal action from Nintendo. Even players have expressed significant outrage over the monster designs, widely accusing the developers of plagiarism.
