Fans of The Legend of Zelda won`t have to wait much longer to return to the world of Tears of the Kingdom. During the September Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will launch exclusively on Switch 2 on November 6. Pre-orders for the game began on September 12, and like most Nintendo-published Switch 2 titles, it is priced at $70.
While Nintendo-published games seldom include pre-order bonuses, there`s a possibility that major retailers might offer exclusive Zelda-themed collectibles in the coming weeks.
Age of Imprisonment is the third installment in Koei Tecmo`s Dynasty Warriors and Zelda crossover series. Similar to its predecessors, Age of Imprisonment is a hack-and-slash action game playable solo or cooperatively. It boasts a diverse roster of characters, prominently featuring Princess Zelda as a leader. This makes it notable that Zelda has starred in the two most recent Legend of Zelda titles, including last year`s The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, where she took on the role of the primary protagonist for the first time in a mainline entry, moving beyond Link.
Much like Age of Calamity served as a prequel to Breath of the Wild, Age of Imprisonment is set before the events portrayed in Tears of the Kingdom. The narrative centers on Demon King Ganondorf`s earlier bid to conquer Hyrule – an invasion alluded to in Tears of the Kingdom, which fans can now witness firsthand. Playable characters include Princess Zelda, King Rauru, Mineru, and other Sages. Most excitingly, players will even be able to play as a Korok.
Age of Imprisonment will support GameShare on Switch 2, enabling local wireless co-op play with a friend using only one copy of the game. All existing Zelda Amiibo figures are compatible with the new title, and scanning them will yield crafting materials and other useful items.
For those who haven`t played Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, having a save file from that game on your console will grant you the “High Guard`s Claymore” weapon in Age of Imprisonment. Additionally, a Tears of the Kingdom save file will reward you with the “High Guard`s Sword.”
