In reality, death is an unavoidable part of life. However, in The Sims 4, your digital characters don`t necessarily have to face this fate. While most Sims will eventually pass away, there are multiple ways to grant them extended, even indefinite, lifespans. Some of these methods require purchasing expansion packs, but others are available in the base game.
If you have a favorite Sim you wish to keep around forever, it`s entirely possible – it just requires some effort and understanding of the available options. Let`s explore the different paths to achieving eternal life for your Sims.
Duplication Methods (Copypasto and Cloning)
Before detailing specific immortality techniques, it`s helpful to know how to duplicate necessary items like potions and serums. Constantly crafting items like the Age-Away serum can be time-consuming due to the need to regularly gather ingredients.
Two primary methods can significantly speed up this process. The first is the Copypasto spell, which allows spellcasters to duplicate almost any object. The second is the cloning machine, which Sims in the Scientist career track build as part of their job responsibilities. Both can be used to duplicate Potions of Youth, Age-Away Serums, or individual crafting ingredients. Note that the Copypasto spell requires the Realm of Magic expansion, and the cloning machine is part of the Get To Work expansion. The base game does not offer similar duplication methods.
Potion of Youth (Base Game)
The most straightforward way to reset a Sim`s age is by purchasing the Potion of Youth from the Aspiration rewards store. For 1500 reward points, this potion will reset your Sim`s current age within their life stage. For example, an adult Sim drinking this potion will return to day 0 of their adult stage (which lasts 42 days by default). Accumulating enough reward points to constantly buy these isn`t practical for infinite life, especially with many other useful rewards available. However, the cloning machine and Copypasto spell mentioned earlier *do* work with the Potion of Youth, making duplication possible with the right expansions.
Essence of Life (Base Game)
The intimidating Cowplant in The Sims is akin to the carnivorous plant from Little Shop of Horrors, and it can be deadly. Hungry Cowplants may lure and consume unsuspecting Sims. When a Sim is eaten and subsequently killed by a Cowplant, another Sim can milk the plant to obtain the Essence of Life potion. Drinking this potion adds a few days to the Sim`s lifespan. While technically possible to sustain life this way by regularly feeding the Cowplant, it`s a challenging and macabre path to immortality.

Age-Away Serum (Get to Work Expansion)
Similar to the Potion of Youth, the Age-Away serum resets a Sim`s current age back to the beginning of their life stage. To unlock the recipe for this serum, your Sim must reach the highest level in the Scientist career. They will eventually have a breakthrough at work that grants them the recipe.
Crafting the Age-Away serum requires alien ingredients found only on Sixam, a planet accessible via a built rocket ship or the Electroflux Wormhole Generator – both items learned through the Scientist career. You`ll need Quill Fruit (harvested on Sixam during summer), two alien crystals, and some Xenopetrium. Quill Fruit and crystals are relatively easy to find, but Xenopetrium is trickier.
Where to Find Xenopetrium
Xenopetrium is an element found in metals and crystals from Sixam. While you might find it by analyzing items yourself, it`s far more reliable to send space rocks found on Sixam to the Geo Council. Simply click on the space rocks in your Sim`s inventory and select the option to send them for analysis. The council will return a collection of elements, which will almost certainly include Xenopetrium.

Potion of Rejuvenation (Realm of Magic Expansion)
Another potion that resets a Sim`s age timer is the Potion of Rejuvenation. This magical concoction requires valerian root, alabaster, and lemon as ingredients and must be brewed in a cauldron by a spellcaster.
Alabaster and lemon are commonly found, but valerian root is primarily located near the greenhouse in the Magic Realm. Experimenting with the cauldron to discover recipes also often yields random ingredients, potentially providing enough for one or two potions by the time you learn the recipe. Alternatively, all magical ingredients can be purchased from vendors within the Magic Realm.
Potion of Immortality (Realm of Magic Expansion)
This magical potion functions differently from age-resetting potions. It doesn`t prevent aging but stops the Sim from dying of old age. If you envision your Sim as an eternally wise wizard, this is the potion for them. It requires mandrake, sage, morcubus, and a diamond. Mandrake and sage are relatively common plants found widely, while morcubus and diamonds can be found by digging up rock piles anywhere in the world. As with other magical ingredients, these can also be bought from vendors in the Magic Realm.

Become a Vampire (Vampires Expansion)
Vampires are inherently immortal in terms of aging. While they can still die from accidents, they will never die of old age. Simply being transformed into a vampire grants this form of immortality. Your Sim will need to encounter a vampire and persuade them to turn them, which is not overly difficult. Vampires also possess unique advantages, such as the ability to numb their emotions for two days, preventing sadness when a family member passes away.
Immortal Werewolf Perk (Werewolves Expansion)
Similar to vampires, werewolves can achieve eternal life, but it`s not automatic upon transformation. Instead, immortality is unlocked via a specific perk found at the end of the Werewolf skill tree: Immortal Werewolf. Acquiring this perk prevents the werewolf Sim from aging.
Orchid Arrangement (Seasons Expansion)
With the Flower Arranging skill and the Seasons expansion, Sims can create arrangements using the Flower Arranging Table. High-quality arrangements can be scented for added benefits. A Sim who has mastered the Flower Arranging skill can scent an arrangement with a rare orchid, giving it effects similar to the Potion of Youth. When the Sim smells the arrangement, they will become slightly younger, potentially resetting their current age to zero. Orchids are difficult to obtain, but they can be grown by grafting a lily onto a snapdragon plant (or vice versa). The resulting plant occasionally produces orchids.
Alternatively, Sims with the Snowy Retreat expansion can find a single orchid plant growing at the summit of Mt. Komorebi. Reaching this peak requires your Sim to develop their rock climbing skill to level 5 or 6, but it offers a guaranteed source for one orchid.
Mother Plant (StrangerVille Expansion)
The Mother Plant serves as the final challenge in the StrangerVille expansion pack. However, your Sim can also develop a friendship with it. Once befriended, Sims can ask the Mother Plant for a daily boon. One of the possible outcomes of this request is that the Mother Plant will extend the Sim`s life.
