How The Sieve Event Works in Destiny 2: Edge of Fate

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate introduces The Sieve, a new limited-time event, alongside its core offerings of a campaign, raid, and side quests. This event is accessible only during specific periods, but completing a full run offers participants substantial rewards.

The Sieve is a cooperative activity designed for three players, set within Kepler`s central hub, the Caldera. It operates for a brief 30-minute window, followed by a cooldown period of 1 hour and 44 minutes, meaning players need to time their entry carefully.

When it goes live, you can boot into the activity from this icon on the Kepler map.
Players can initiate this activity by selecting its icon on the Kepler map once it becomes available.

Upon starting, players are matched with a Fireteam to complete tasks centered around the Drifter`s mining operations. Objectives involve deploying beacons for dark matter extraction in the Caldera while simultaneously defending against enemy waves, particularly formidable Minotaurs capable of sabotaging the mining effort.

Successful completion of the mining phase yields rewards and the option to proceed to a subsequent activity, typically a boss encounter. The boss`s characteristics, including type and difficulty, are randomized. Defeating the boss grants further rewards, after which another mining defense run can be initiated.

Fireteams can repeat this cycle multiple times. Occasionally, a unique mote-banking event, reminiscent of Gambit, may occur, which seems to offer even more valuable rewards. While personal experience didn`t yield Exotics from this, community reports suggest that The Sieve can drop the new Exotic armor for each class, providing an alternative acquisition method to the standard Legendary campaign grind.

Beyond offering an enjoyable and chaotic diversion from Destiny`s usual gameplay, The Sieve is also a mandatory step in the Exotic questline for the Graviton Spike. After completing the exploration objectives across Kepler, successfully finishing a round of The Sieve is essential to obtain this impressive Arc-Void hand cannon.
