The first official patch for the highly anticipated game Hollow Knight: Silksong has been announced, bringing with it a more accessible gameplay experience, at least to some extent. The update primarily features a “slight difficulty reduction” for early-game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter. Additionally, the damage inflicted by Sandcarvers has been decreased.
Beyond difficulty adjustments, the new Silksong patch addresses a variety of bugs. Players will no longer find themselves stuck in a floating state after performing a down-bounce on certain projectiles. The issue where Silk Snippers in the Chapel of the Reaper could become trapped out of bounds has also been rectified.
This initial patch is expected to be released by the middle of next week. Team Cherry has confirmed they are already developing further fixes for a subsequent update. They encourage players experiencing issues not listed in the current patch notes to be aware that the developers might already be working on a solution.
All forthcoming fixes will be applied retroactively. This means that players encountering significant progression-blocking bugs might consider switching to the public beta branch to receive these solutions sooner.
For those keen to experience the changes immediately or who are relying on specific bug fixes to continue their progress, the update is accessible via the public beta on both Steam and GOG. Steam users can follow these steps to opt in:
- Right-click on Silksong in your library.
- Select “Properties.”
- Navigate to the “Betas” tab.
- From the “Beta Participation” dropdown menu, choose the public beta option.
- Download the new update.
Players can also consult the official Silksong help site for temporary workarounds to critical bugs.
Silksong launched on September 4th to a massive debut, quickly climbing Steam charts and reportedly reaching over 5 million players shortly after its release. Some PC players have already turned to Silksong mods to further adjust the game`s difficulty or modify other aspects of its gameplay.
