Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Ambitious Post-Launch Plans Revealed

Even before its release, Team Cherry, the developers behind the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong, are already discussing ambitious post-launch expansions for the game.

In a recent Bloomberg interview, Team Cherry co-directors Ari Gibson and William Pellen spoke about Silksong`s extensive development. While excited for the September 4 launch, they expressed equal enthusiasm for future content.

Gibson stated, “The most interesting thing now is what we can add next. We have a plan, and while some of these plans are ambitious, we hope to achieve them.”

The duo refrained from revealing specifics about these ambitious plans, but the implication is clear: Silksong`s journey won`t end with its initial release.

This suggests Silksong, much like its predecessor, Hollow Knight, will be a long-term focus for Team Cherry. Hollow Knight, launched in early 2017, received four substantial free DLC packs, adding new characters, quests, boss fights, music, and various improvements.

This news sparks speculation: Will Silksong receive a similar volume of post-launch content, especially given its prolonged development? And crucially, will these expansions also be free?

Ironically, Silksong itself began as the fifth and final DLC for Hollow Knight before evolving into a full-fledged sequel by 2019.

With Silksong now confirmed for a September 4 release and playable at Gamescom, fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival, hoping any future DLC won`t follow its lengthy development timeline.
