Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally out, and players agree that the game is magnificent, though extremely challenging. This metroidvania from Team Cherry offers a true test, but for those seeking even more hardcore gameplay, there`s a `cheat code` reminiscent of (but different from) the famous Konami code. To activate Steel Soul Mode, simply go to the `Extras` section in the main menu and enter the following D-pad sequence:
Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.
So, what exactly is Steel Soul Mode? When starting a new game in this mode, you only have one life to complete the entire game. No respawns or save reloads: any failure means the end of your run. Veteran Hollow Knight players will be familiar with this mode, as it was also present in the first game, unlocking after the initial campaign completion.
If you`re currently struggling, there`s good news: Silksong`s first patch, due next week, will slightly reduce the difficulty of early bosses – Moorwing and Sister Splinter. PC players can also adjust the overall difficulty using various released mods.
