Hollow Knight: Silksong Absent from Nintendo Direct

Fans were once again left disappointed as Hollow Knight: Silksong was conspicuously missing from the recent Nintendo Direct. Despite no official confirmation prior, many had held onto hope for a long-awaited update, given the scarcity of new information since its 2019 reveal.

Following its previous delay, it appears Team Cherry is maintaining strict silence until the game is entirely complete or substantial progress can be demonstrated. While this discretion is understandable, it inevitably fosters a climate of speculation and rumors, even with Microsoft`s assertion that the game will launch this year.

Information regarding Silksong reveals that it features Hornet, differing from the original Hollow Knight. Her journey commences deep within Pharloom, an area seemingly more industrialized than Hallownest, as she ascends towards its towering Citadel. Her purpose in Pharloom and its connection to Hallownest are currently unknown, though her clear objective is to escape.

Initially slated for release in the first half of 2023, the game`s development was confirmed to be `still continuing` by Team Cherry`s Matthew Griffin in May 2023, signaling a delay. Recent glimpses of gameplay footage surfaced last month as part of an Xbox Ally promotional reel.

Good news for European fans: a demo of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at Gamescom next month, as confirmed by Xbox`s event lineup. This raises the critical question: will the extended anticipation ultimately be justified?

The Nintendo Direct also featured other major announcements, including new details for Monster Hunter Stories 3, a Katamari update, Dragon Ball Sparking, Plants vs. Zombies, Persona 3 Reload, Just Dance 2026, and more.
