High On Life Gets a Major Upgrade on Nintendo Switch 2 with Free Path for Owners

The comedic first-person shooter, High on Life, which previously launched on the original Nintendo Switch, has now received a substantial console upgrade. Developer Squanch Games has officially made the game available on the new Nintendo Switch 2, bringing with it a suite of welcome enhancements and a very consumer-friendly upgrade policy.

Among the key improvements, players will find a novel use of the Joy-Con 2`s capabilities: mouse controls. This feature allows for a more PC-like aiming experience in first-person shooters, a functionality expected to become popular in future FPS titles. Furthermore, the Switch 2 version boasts enhanced visual effects (VFX) and improved texture quality, along with a higher, smoother frame rate. When docked, the game now supports an enhanced resolution of 1080p, running at a solid 30 frames per second.

Excellent news for current High on Life players! If you already own the game on the original Nintendo Switch and have upgraded to a Switch 2, you are eligible for a completely free upgrade to this enhanced version. For those purchasing the game for the first time on Switch 2, it is available digitally for $40.

High on Life initially made its debut in 2022, where it garnered a mixed but generally positive reception. While GameSpot`s review acknowledged its shortcomings, it specifically highlighted the game`s humor as one of its stronger points.

Looking ahead, a sequel to High on Life was announced earlier this year, with a release date set for February 13, 2026. This follow-up title is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, at this time, there is no indication of a release for either the original Nintendo Switch or the new Switch 2.
