Squanch Games has announced a definitive release date for High On Life 2: February 13, 2026. Initially slated for Winter 2025, this highly anticipated sci-fi first-person shooter, reminiscent of the popular animated series Rick and Morty, will once again immerse players in a world where sentient weaponry is key to battling alien foes who consider humans merely ingredients for their illicit drug trade.
The concept for the original High On Life, which debuted in 2022, originated from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland (who later departed the studio following domestic violence allegations). Its launch on Xbox Game Pass was remarkably successful, becoming Game Pass`s largest third-party debut and its biggest single-player game launch in history. This record held until 2024 when Palworld surpassed it.
Confirming its day-one Game Pass availability, High On Life 2 will be released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Additionally, an animated series based on the High On Life universe is currently in development, further expanding the franchise.
A notable new gameplay mechanic in the sequel is the introduction of a skateboard for traversing levels. This isn`t just a faster way to move; players can now perform elaborate tricks, transform environments into personal skateparks, and even utilize the skateboard as a dynamic weapon in combat.
February often sees a flurry of new game releases, and 2026 appears to be no different. While the month isn`t overly crowded yet, High On Life 2 will face competition from major titles like Resident Evil Requiem, the latest installment in Capcom`s renowned survival-horror saga.
