Hideo Kojima, the celebrated architect of the Metal Gear Solid universe, has declared his lack of interest in experiencing Konami`s forthcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Originally launched in 2004, the seminal title immersed players in a Cold War narrative, spotlighting Big Boss, the genetic father of the legendary Solid Snake.
The highly anticipated reimagining, officially named Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is slated for release next month. However, in a recent dialogue with Ssense, when posed the question of whether he would play this modern rendition of one of his most acclaimed works, Kojima simply chuckled and affirmed, “No, I won`t.”
Kojima`s exit from Konami in 2015, following a career predominantly spent crafting games for the company, has largely remained shrouded in silence from his end. Despite this, Noriaki Okamura, the producer behind Metal Gear Solid Delta, publicly expressed his profound admiration for Kojima last year, indicating a desire for future collaborations on the Metal Gear Solid franchise. For the time being, Kojima`s upcoming espionage action game, Physint, is widely considered the closest fans might come to another Metal Gear Solid-esque creation from the revered developer.
Konami has recently divulged fresh details concerning Metal Gear Solid Delta. The remake is set to reinstate the original game`s distinctive “secret theater” feature and introduce a novel online mode known as “Fox Hunt.” Furthermore, a sneak peek of the re-envisioned opening sequence, complete with a new rendition of the game`s iconic theme song, has been showcased. Interestingly, Okamura also voiced reservations regarding the likelihood of a remake of the very first Metal Gear Solid game materializing in the future.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled for release on August 28 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
