Helldivers 2 has reached an impressive milestone of over half a million concurrent players. Reacting to this achievement, Arrowhead Studios CEO Shams Jorjani humorously revived a popular meme-phrase. As reported by VideoGamer, he told players on Discord to “stop sh*tting your pants” while announcing that 500,490 people were actively playing the third-person shooter.
Earlier this year, Jorjani had used the same phrase to hint at future game plans to Helldivers 2 fans on Discord, predicting they would “sh*t their pants” with excitement, according to GamesRadar. This comment quickly gained traction on the game`s subreddit and evolved into a recognized meme. Clearly, Jorjani is comfortable embracing the joke.
The substantial surge in Helldivers 2`s player base is attributed to its recent launch on Xbox Series X|S consoles. Additionally, the game features a Halo: ODST crossover, though the Halo assault rifle has been known to cause crashing issues. Arrowhead Studios is actively working on a fix for this problem.
Coincidentally, on August 26, PlayStation and Xbox engaged in a simultaneous exchange of exclusives. As Helldivers 2 made its debut on Xbox, Gears of War: Reloaded launched on PS5, marking the first time in nearly two decades that the franchise`s iconic chainsaw guns and Locust have appeared on a PlayStation console.
Looking ahead, Helldivers 2 is scheduled to receive the “Into the Unjust” update on September 2, which will send squads underground to confront Terminid hordes. The game originally launched on PS5 and PC in February 2024.
