The Coalition has released a new update for Gears of War: Reloaded, primarily focusing on adjustments to the Gnasher shotgun. Although this iconic weapon had already undergone some tuning following its beta phase, the gaming community continued to express dissatisfaction, especially regarding its damage at range. Deaths caused by the Gnasher outside of close-quarters combat were often perceived as unfair.
One of the Gnasher`s persistent issues was its seemingly inconsistent damage output. Many factors beyond player skill, such as server-related problems or incorrect bullet spread during hip-firing, had already been addressed. However, this latest patch aims for more refined adjustments to bring the Gnasher`s performance in line with player expectations. Specifically, its mid-range damage has been reduced by 15%. The bullet spread when aiming down sights has also been re-calibrated; it is now less tight than the launch version but remains tighter than it was in the beta.
Beyond the Gnasher modifications, The Coalition introduced other significant changes. The new patch fixes several game-crashing and stability-related bugs, enhancing overall game smoothness. New visual options have been added, including Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for Xbox Series X|S in campaign mode. Nevertheless, one outstanding complaint, which has contributed to `mixed` user reviews on Steam, is the continued absence of local split-screen co-op support on PC. It remains unknown if this feature will be implemented in the future.
