Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collection for Switch Back on Sale at Prime Day Price

The Final Fantasy I-VI Collection for Nintendo Switch is once again available on Amazon for $45, matching the discount offered during last month`s Prime Day sale. This promotion was highly popular among readers and sold out before its official end. If you missed out on the $30 discount, now is an excellent opportunity to acquire all six of Square Enix`s Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters on a single cartridge at a great price. Unfortunately, the PS4 version is not included in this offer.

This special Anniversary Edition, launched last October for Switch and PlayStation, comes with a sticker sheet featuring Final Fantasy character sprites. It`s important to highlight that this is a genuine physical release, containing all six Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters on either the Switch cartridge or PS4 disc (fully compatible with PS5). Square Enix initially released a limited physical run in 2023, which quickly sold out. Last autumn`s rerelease made the collection widely available to major retailers for the first time as the Anniversary Edition.

Included Games in Final Fantasy I-VI Collection Anniversary Edition:

  • Final Fantasy I (NES, 1987)
  • Final Fantasy II (NES, 1988)
  • Final Fantasy III (Famicom, 1990)
  • Final Fantasy IV (SNES, 1991)
  • Final Fantasy V (SNES, 1992)
  • Final Fantasy VI (SNES, 1994)

All six games have received comprehensive graphical and audio overhauls for the Pixel Remaster series. Square Enix meticulously remodeled the sprites, using the original pixel art as their foundation. Series composer Nobuo Uematsu personally supervised the creation of the rearranged soundtracks. Players also have the option to switch to the original soundtracks, though the new arrangements are highly praised.

Numerous quality-of-life improvements have been integrated, such as quick saving, customizable text fonts, experience multipliers, auto-battling, the ability to disable random encounters, and more. Additionally, players can explore an in-game bestiary, an illustration gallery, and enjoy classic tunes via a music player.

Square Enix`s Pixel Remasters project began its rollout on PC and mobile platforms in Summer 2021 with the three 8-bit Final Fantasy titles, concluding with Final Fantasy VI in February 2022. The collection was subsequently ported to PlayStation and Switch in 2023, followed by an Xbox Series X|S release last September.

The original Final Fantasy III remained a Japan-exclusive title until its 3D remake for the Nintendo DS. Long-time fans in North America might recall Final Fantasy VI, widely considered one of the franchise`s best, being released as Final Fantasy III in their region.

These games can be played in any sequence, offering a fascinating journey through the series` evolution from the 8-bit era on the Nintendo Entertainment System to the 16-bit era of the Super Nintendo.
