With “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” set to bring Marvel`s iconic superhero family back to the big screen after a decade, the film`s cast recently immersed themselves in the world of “Marvel Rivals.” While the Fantastic Four don`t currently headline their own video game, they play a significant role in this popular team-based brawler. A recent video captured the entire cast as they took turns playing their respective characters within the game.
The gaming session, hosted by YouTube personality Loserfruit, took place during the cast`s promotional tour for “First Steps” in Australia. It quickly became apparent that none of the Fantastic Four actors were avid gamers; Pedro Pascal, for instance, humorously mentioned his gaming journey hadn`t progressed beyond the original Nintendo console. Despite their varying levels of experience, everyone enthusiastically participated, with Ebon Moss-Bachrach kicking things off as the Thing, followed by Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn taking on the role of the Human Torch.
The cast`s reactions to some of the alternate Fantastic Four costumes in the game were highly entertaining, especially their surprise at the team`s wedding attire. Vanessa Kirby was particularly astonished by her Invisible Woman`s “Malice” skin, lightheartedly suggesting it might appear in a “First Steps” sequel. One can only imagine their response if they were to see the original, more infamous Malice costume from the 1980s comics!
At one point during the gameplay, Kirby comically mistook her invisible character for being naked, only to realize it was the intended visual effect of the Invisible Woman`s powers. Throughout the session, the entire cast seemed to genuinely enjoy mashing buttons and embracing their characters` unique abilities. While they clearly had a blast, it`s fair to say they`re not quite prepared for competitive “Marvel Rivals” matches just yet.
“Marvel Rivals” has seen recent updates, including the addition of Phoenix, with Blade soon to follow. The Fantastic Four characters themselves were integrated into the game earlier this year. NetEase, the developer, has hinted at the possibility of more Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) tie-ins in the future, although they have also emphasized that the game`s core storyline will always remain the primary focus over any MCU content.
