Epic Games Takes Firm Stance Against Fortnite Cheaters and Disruptors

Fortnite, a global gaming phenomenon, has consistently faced challenges from malicious individuals. Over time, Epic Games has significantly enhanced its security infrastructure and implemented robust protective measures to safeguard the game`s integrity and player experience.

In a recent move, Epic initiated legal proceedings against two offenders: one who sold cheats, and another responsible for multiple Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks targeting Fortnite content creators. Epic stated that the DDoSer not only interrupted live streams but also engaged in `stream sniping.` The other individual was involved in the trade and utilization of permanent Fortnite account bans.

While the specifics of Epic`s legal actions were not disclosed, both parties have been permanently banned from Fortnite. They have also published public apologies on their respective YouTube channels, and their social media profiles have been cleared of previous content.

Zebsi, the DDoSer, confirmed in their apology video that the cyberattacks were conducted under a specific username, expressing remorse for the harm inflicted upon Epic, the community, and the affected streamers. Separately, Mirrored, the cheat seller, confessed to the use, sale, and distribution of `cheats and hardware,` acknowledging their participation in Fortnite tournaments with unauthorized advantages. Mirrored also revealed a permanent game ban and the threat of further legal repercussions should they re-engage in cheating.

Epic has recently adopted a stringent approach to combat cheating and abuse. This enforcement action, culminating in forced public apologies from the two individuals, underscores the company`s commitment to deterring illicit activities. This follows a successful judgment last month against another cheater, which resulted in a $175,000 fine that Epic subsequently contributed to charity.
