Following the acclaimed 2014 release of Endless Legend, a compelling turn-based 4X fantasy strategy game set on the world of Auriga, developer Amplitude Studios is gearing up for the launch of its successor. Endless Legend 2 will transport players to a brand-new, enigmatic oceanic planet named Saiadha, and has been officially confirmed as a day-one title for PC Game Pass when it enters its early access phase later this month.
The sequel`s announcement earlier this year was accompanied by a captivating and somewhat unsettling trailer. This cinematic hinted at Saiadha`s true nature: a colossal prison for an unnamed, god-like entity, with its vast oceans serving as the entity`s chains. The `god` featured in the trailer ominously foretold that one of the planet`s warring factions would eventually be reckless enough to inadvertently unleash it.
In Endless Legend 2, players are given the strategic choice of six distinct factions and races, each determined to assert dominance over Saiadha`s dynamic and ever-changing landscapes. The actions undertaken by players will directly influence the speed and effectiveness with which their chosen faction expands its territory, often at the direct expense of its rivals. During the initial early access period, four of these factions will be playable, with the remaining two scheduled for introduction upon the game`s full release.
A restricted demo for Endless Legend 2 was briefly available in August, offering eager players a preliminary look at two of the game`s factions. This limited preview demonstrated unique cataclysmic tidefalls, environmental events that drastically reshape the world map, introduced 15 minor factions with whom players could interact, and presented a formidable threat in the form of the Necrophage – a monstrous insectoid people infamous for their ability to infect other races with a plague, transforming victims into one of their own.
The highly anticipated early access launch for Endless Legend 2 is set to begin on September 22.
