The eagerly awaited Patch 1.02 for Elden Ring Nightreign has experienced a slight delay, attributed to tsunami warnings issued across Japan. Originally slated for release on July 30, Bandai Namco has adjusted the launch schedule to July 31, at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET.
This postponement follows a significant earthquake that occurred near Russia`s Kamchatka Peninsula, which subsequently prompted an evacuation order for approximately 1.9 million individuals residing along Japan`s eastern coastline. Reports from the BBC indicate that Japan`s weather agency has confirmed a tsunami wave, measuring 4.3 feet, has already reached the northern Iwate prefecture.
Once the patch is officially released, it will introduce a new two-player “Duos mode” to Elden Ring Nightreign. This feature will allow pairs of players to engage with the game`s challenges without the necessity of recruiting a third companion. While Elden Ring Nightreign was initially designed for three-person teams, an unofficial duos modification available on PC had garnered considerable popularity among players.
Game director Junya Ishizaki had previously acknowledged that a two-player mode for Elden Ring Nightreign was “overlooked” during the development phase. However, he also noted at the time that From Software had begun to explore the possibility of implementing such a feature.
Elden Ring Nightreign has proven to be another substantial success for From Software, recently surpassing 5 million sales and achieving a peak of 313,593 concurrent users on Steam. In related news, the original Elden Ring has sold over 30 million copies globally. Looking ahead, From Software`s next major title is `The Duskbloods,` which is planned for release on the Switch 2.
