Dying Light: The Beast: New Trailer Unleashes Primal Gore

The release of Dying Light: The Beast was recently postponed to September. However, to temporarily satisfy fans` craving for brutal digital zombie annihilation, developer Techland has unveiled a new trailer. To be honest, this is a rather loose description, as the new teaser is essentially a highlight reel of the most gory moments, showcasing numerous ways to inflict severe damage on the infected. If you`re squeamish and don`t want to lose your appetite, you might want to look away, as this ultraviolent reel holds nothing back.

Techland states that the “primal brutality” in Dying Light: The Beast is not merely for show; it aims to mirror protagonist Kyle Crane`s thirst for revenge. After a decade of imprisonment and brutal experimentation, Crane has accumulated a lot of suppressed rage that he needs to unleash, and it seems carnage becomes his catharsis, thanks to his new rage-fueled abilities.

“We`ve significantly amplified the body horror to give you the feeling of fighting for pure survival and to convey Kyle`s thirst for revenge,” said Tymon Smektała, Dying Light franchise director, in a press statement. “It`s one thing to see a health bar deplete; it`s entirely another to witness flesh peeling from bones or a burnt, disfigured face just inches away from you – that`s how nightmares are made!”

To intensify the bodily harm in the game, Techland`s art team conducted extensive research to improve all visual effects of wounds and injuries. These also correspond to the various infected bodies seen on the streets. To create realistic blood splatters, the studio used gallons of fake blood and recreated the necessary scenes in real life with an actor. “I just hope no one ever checks my browser history,” joked lead character artist Dominik Wasieńko.

Originally slated for an August release, Dying Light: The Beast will now launch on September 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
