Sega has announced exciting downloadable content (DLC) for the upcoming game *Shinobi: Art of Vengeance*, set to release in early 2026. This DLC, titled `Sega Villains Stage,` will feature Dr. Eggman from the Sonic the Hedgehog series as a boss character. While details are still emerging, protagonist Joe Musashi is also set to face two other guest villains, whose identities remain undisclosed. Players who purchase the digital deluxe edition of *Shinobi: Art of Vengeance* will automatically receive this DLC upon its release next year.
In related news, Sega revealed that Young Dirty Bastard (YDB), son of the legendary Ol` Dirty Bastard of Wu-Tang Clan, is releasing a new track inspired by the *Shinobi* franchise. The song, `The Path Has Just Begun,` will be available on streaming platforms this week, August 21st, coinciding with the launch of a new game trailer.
First teased at The Game Awards in 2023 and fully unveiled earlier this year, *Shinobi: Art of Vengeance* marks a return to the series` classic 2D action-platforming roots. This title is the first new *Shinobi* game since *Shinobi 3D* for the 3DS in 2011, which received mixed reviews. Its release is part of Sega`s broader strategy to revive long-dormant franchises, similar to plans for *Jet Set Radio* and *Crazy Taxi*. A *Shinobi* movie adaptation is also reportedly in development.
*Shinobi: Art of Vengeance* will be available on August 29th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
