Don’t Miss Out: Last Days of the Criterion Collection 50% Off Sale!

The extensive 50% discount event on films from The Criterion Collection concludes on July 27th, marking the last opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire these critically acclaimed titles. Criterion`s 4K Blu-ray editions are available for $25, while most 1080p Blu-rays are priced at $20. This yearly summer promotion, which commenced in late June, encompassed nearly all Criterion films in stock, with the notable exception of pre-orders, apart from Stanley Kubrick`s “Barry Lyndon” on 4K Blu-ray, which was discounted ahead of its July 8th release. Films from several celebrated directors and actors are featured in the sale:

  • David Lynch Movies
  • Akira Kurosawa Movies
  • Guillermo del Toro Movies
  • Martin Scorsese Movies
  • The Coen Brothers Movies
  • Godzilla Movies
  • Adam Sandler Movies

An extensive, alphabetized compilation of individual film deals is provided further down, in addition to dedicated sections for the directors previously mentioned. A diverse selection of acclaimed Blu-rays and box sets remains available. However, potential buyers should note that some items on the list may have already sold out.

Criterion Collection 50% Off Blu-rays

4K Blu-rays are indicated with “(4K)” in the list. All other movies are 1080p Blu-rays, with a few DVDs included. Many of Criterion`s recent releases are available in three formats: 4K, 1080p, and DVD. To avoid redundancy, only one format is listed for each film. However, if a 4K Blu-ray is sold out, the 1080p version might still be available by checking the store page for alternative formats.

Criterion releases are characterized by original cover art, display-worthy packaging, and unique bonus features not typically found in other editions of the same film. While Criterion often focuses on classic, including black-and-white, films, contemporary movies are regularly added to their collection.

Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films | Godzilla vs. Biollante

The highly sought-after Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954-1975, priced at $112.48 (originally $225), has historically seen rapid sell-outs. This collection features HD remasters of 15 Godzilla films from 1954 to 1975, offering the definitive way to experience these classics from the monster`s seminal period. Considered one of Criterion`s most visually impressive releases, this 8-disc Blu-ray set includes an exclusive hardcover book with commentary from film historians and stunning full-color illustrations.

For additional Kaiju adventures, Criterion also offers recent 4K Blu-ray editions of the original 1954 Godzilla movie and Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989), a noteworthy entry in the long-running franchise. The 4K remaster of the 1954 film, released last November, is available for just $20, representing a discount exceeding 50%. “Godzilla vs. Biollante” received its 4K release in March. Should the 4K versions be unavailable, standard Blu-ray editions of both films are also an option.

  • Godzilla vs. Biollante (4K) — $25 ($50)

Criterion recently released 4K remasters of two of its most popular Kurosawa titles: Seven Samurai and the Yojimbo / Sanjuro combo pack. These two 4K releases join Akira Kurosawa`s Dreams, a feature inspired by Japanese folklore comprising eight of the director`s unique visions.

Criterion has frequently collaborated with Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro to include his distinctive fairy tales in their collection. The Shape of Water, released on 4K Blu-ray last holiday season, is now available for only $25. Beyond “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Shape of Water” stands as the only Best Picture winner in the fantasy genre, a film for which del Toro also received Best Director. Two other del Toro films have received 4K releases from Criterion: the bold stop-motion reimagining of Pinocchio and the director`s debut film Cronos. While Pan`s Labyrinth is hopefully next for a 4K treatment, Criterion`s 2K digital remaster is highly impressive and features a wealth of excellent bonus content.
