Destiny 2: “The Edge of Fate” Raid Race Details Revealed

During a recent Destiny 2 developer livestream, Bungie announced the start date for “The Edge of Fate: The Desert Perpetual” raid race, hinting at potential modifications to the customary raid race format.

Historically, Guardians had a 48-hour window to conquer the raid race in Contest Mode. This challenging, temporary mode activates immediately upon the raid`s launch, featuring increased difficulty through reduced player damage, tougher enemies, and a demand for impeccable team coordination. While these races typically started on the Friday after a Tuesday expansion release, this schedule is now being altered.

The “Edge of Fate” raid race is scheduled to commence on Saturday, July 19, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT, concluding at the same time on Monday, July 21.

Furthermore, weeks after the initial raid launch, an “Epic” version will be introduced. This enhanced iteration will expand the narrative and introduce fresh content. Bungie clarified that no content is being withheld from the base raid; instead, the Epic version aims to “enhance” the overall raid experience.

To prepare for the race within the four-day window between the expansion`s release and the raid`s launch, Bungie advises completing the main campaign on Legendary difficulty to achieve the recommended Power level. Players who finish the campaign on Normal difficulty will need to invest time in grinding to reach the minimum Power level for “The Desert Perpetual,” which is yet to be officially confirmed.

Fireteams are not required to return to orbit to complete the raid race; however, all members must loot the final chest. Once the “World`s First” race concludes, Guardians will have the option to enter the raid at its normal difficulty, bypassing Contest Mode.
