Destiny 2: How to Unlock Language-Locked Chests on Kepler

In Destiny 2`s “The Edge of Fate” main story quest, you`ll encounter mysterious red chests scattered across the new planet Kepler. These chests are inaccessible without a deep understanding of an unfamiliar language—the native tongue of the Aeonian people. Initially, your character will have no comprehension of this language, though your ally Lodi possesses a basic grasp. To fully interact with the Aeonians and claim the contents of these intriguing chests, you will need to acquire specific, location-based abilities and equipment.

As you progress through “The Edge of Fate” campaign missions, you will eventually be tasked with meeting Dean Rebecca. She will assign you a brief quest involving combating enemies and gathering intelligence. Upon successful completion of this assignment, your reward will be the crucial Rosetta equipment. The Rosetta grants you a fundamental understanding of the Aeonian language, which is key to opening the chests that were previously out of reach.

Further into the campaign, you`ll find that some missions can be completed in any order you choose. To maximize the number of chests you can open and to fully unveil the many secrets hidden on Kepler, it is highly advisable to prioritize missions that offer Rosetta upgrades. The more you enhance your Rosetta, the more proficient you become in speaking and understanding the Aeonian language, unlocking deeper lore and discoveries.

While exploring this new environment, you might also notice new time-limited activities emerging. Additionally, you may even inadvertently “sequence break” the game`s progression. Rest assured, Bungie has stated that such occurrences are an intentional part of the game`s design.
