Datamining Leak Suggests Battlefield 6 Open Beta is on the Horizon

Datamining activities suggest that an open beta for the upcoming Battlefield title, currently known as Battlefield 6, might be in the works, despite the game presently being accessible only through a closed alpha test.

Reports from MP1ST indicate that enthusiasts found a “Battlefield 6 open beta” text string within the game`s code, following a recent client update for the Battlefield Labs test. Such internal code is not intended for public view, raising questions about whether “Battlefield 6” is merely a codename or if the beta reference itself is a placeholder, potentially meaning no open beta is planned.

Prior datamining endeavors have also hinted at other unconfirmed features, including a potential Battlefield battle royale mode and details about the game`s campaign.

Participation in the ongoing Battlefield Labs tests is by invitation only, though interested players can still register for a chance to be selected. While EA has expressed a desire to broaden player access to Battlefield 6 pre-release, an official open beta announcement remains absent. However, an open beta would align with past titles like Battlefield 2042 and other entries in the series, which also featured pre-launch open testing.

EA is expected to officially unveil the next Battlefield installment later this summer. Although some fans anticipated a June reveal alongside other industry events, this did not occur. Current speculation suggests the formal announcement of Battlefield 6 could coincide with an open beta reveal, though this remains unconfirmed as of yet.

The upcoming Battlefield game marks the series` first new release since 2021`s Battlefield 2042. That title received a lukewarm reception, with EA attributing some of its challenges to remote work conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, Battlefield 2042 was still the fifth best-selling game in the US in 2021.

Separately, EA and DICE have shared insights into potential “ultimate” abilities for Battlefield 6 and justified their choice to remove class-locked weapon restrictions.
