Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which recently made its debut on Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this summer, is now slated for release on Mac. CD Projekt Red`s expansive role-playing game will become accessible to Mac users nearly five years after its initial launch on PC and other console platforms.
The Mac iteration of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is set to become available on July 17. Mac users equipped with Apple silicon will be able to acquire the game through various digital storefronts including the Mac App Store, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.com. Apple has emphasized that this port is engineered to harness the `advanced technologies of Metal,` promising `smooth performance,` `sharp visuals,` `impressive battery life,` and `seamless gameplay` for players.
Moreover, the game will feature comprehensive spatial audio support on Mac, including head-tracked spatial audio functionality when paired with AirPods. For optimal performance, Cyberpunk 2077 mandates Apple silicon Mac configurations possessing at least 16GB of unified memory. To ensure the best possible experience, it is highly recommended to run the game on macOS 15.5 or a more recent operating system version.
While the primary development cycle for Cyberpunk 2077 has largely concluded, there remains at least one more substantial update in the pipeline for the game. However, CD Projekt Red recently announced an indefinite delay for update 2.3. The stated rationale behind this postponement is that the programming team requires additional time for its completion. This forthcoming update is anticipated to be of a `scope similar to Update 2.2.`
Looking to the future, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in its early stages of development under the working title Cyberpunk 2. Although this next installment is still several years away, Mike Pondsmith, the original creator of the Cyberpunk universe, has previously hinted that the sequel will introduce a second major city, expanding beyond the familiar urban sprawl of Night City featured in the first game.
