Game developer Crystal Dynamics has announced another round of layoffs, resulting in 20 employees losing their jobs. This latest wave of cuts affects both developers and members of the operational team.
In an official statement, the studio explained that it regularly reviews its organizational structure as projects advance through different development stages. This analysis helps assess whether the current team composition aligns with long-term objectives. While the company typically attempts to reassign surplus staff to other roles, this is not always feasible, leading to the recent terminations.
Crystal Dynamics thanked the departed specialists for their contributions and pledged to provide support in their job search.
The company also emphasized that these layoffs will not affect the ongoing development of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
It’s noted that the studio has been conducting layoffs with noticeable regularity since 2025. Over the past 12 months, the situation has been as follows:
- March 2025 – 17 people laid off
- August 2025 – Exact number undisclosed
- November 2025 – 30 people laid off
- March 2026 – 20 people laid off (the current event)
According to information on the Crystal Dynamics website, the company lists over 300 employees, but this data has not been updated for several years.
