Critical Role to Develop New Video Game with AdHoc

The creative minds behind Critical Role have long expressed their ambition to develop a video game. This aspiration is now becoming a reality as Critical Role joins forces with AdHoc, the studio recognized for the upcoming superhero action-RPG, Dispatch.

According to reports, the new game will be set within Exandria, the rich fantasy world meticulously crafted for Critical Role`s celebrated campaigns. Travis Willingham of Critical Role hinted at the possibility of beloved characters from campaigns like Vox Machina, Mighty Nein, and Bells Hells making appearances, though he emphasized that the core narrative would be entirely fresh.

Willingham`s involvement in Dispatch was instrumental in forging this co-development partnership with AdHoc. He highlighted Critical Role`s desire to adopt Dispatch`s model, offering a branching narrative deeply influenced by player decisions.

“We`re actively exploring concepts, defining the scope and budget, and pinpointing essential elements,” Willingham shared. “Players will definitely want to encounter their cherished characters.”

He further clarified that Critical Role envisions this project not as a massive AAA title, but rather aims for a more expedited development timeline, deviating from the typical five-year cycle often seen with larger-scale productions.

In related news, Critical Role`s publishing arm, Darrington Press, recently brought on board two designers from Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition to craft new fantasy content. Additionally, Critical Role recently announced a collaboration with Assassin`s Creed Shadows.
