Crimson Desert’s World Scale Impresses: 6 Hours to Cross the Map on Foot

Crimson Desert Game World

Pearl Abyss is setting new standards for map scale in their upcoming title. Will Powers, Head of PR, confirmed that Crimson Desert’s game world is at least twice the size of Skyrim and even larger than the map in Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to the developers, traversing the entire game map from one edge to the other will take approximately 6 hours on foot, and about 2 hours on horseback. Considering Skyrim’s area is roughly 37 km², Crimson Desert’s world could span an impressive 74 to 110 km².

The game world is segmented into five distinct regions, each featuring unique biomes and cultures, brimming with activities and exploration opportunities. Travel will be a central gameplay mechanic, utilizing various mounts, gliders, and a fast-travel system unlocked after an initial visit to a location.
