Crimson Desert: Not an Unreal Engine 5 Rival, Faces Significant Graphics Issues

Despite early praise for Crimson Desert’s graphics, the game’s actual state appears less impressive than anticipated.

Developed on Pearl Abyss’s proprietary engine, the game doesn’t live up to expectations as an “Unreal Engine 5 killer.” While its performance is comparable to titles like Kingdom Come 2, its overall graphics are noticeably weaker than Warhorse’s work.

Performance tests conducted in native 4K with “Cinematic” settings revealed specific framerates for NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. Regarding these results, one observer commented:

“I’m a bit disappointed with the performance of AMD Radeon cards. They show worse results than I expected, especially considering this is an AMD-sponsored product.”

Beyond performance, significant graphical flaws were also identified. At longer draw distances, nearby objects exhibit poor texture quality, to the extent that a dedicated 4K texture pack for PC seems necessary. Furthermore, low VRAM utilization, a “noisy” image, and weak geometry were noted.
