Cosplayer Reganight skillfully transformed into the Emerald Herald from Dark Souls II, taking on the role of guiding the Cursed One through the game’s harsh fantasy world, aiding in character leveling and enhancing the Estus Flask.
Photographer Ekaterina Morpheeva is known for capturing stunning and unique images within popular game universes, delighting gamers and cosplay enthusiasts alike. For her latest project, she ventured into the action RPG world of Dark Souls II, photographing model Reganight as Shanalotte, famously known as the Emerald Herald.

The Emerald Herald is the first significant NPC the player character encounters upon arriving in Majula. She plays a crucial role in assisting the protagonist by enabling level-ups and reinforcing the Estus Flask, thereby increasing its uses.

Shanalotte is not a human in the traditional sense; she is believed to be a hybrid creation of Lord Aldia and King Vendrick, an experiment aimed at producing a being capable of breaking the cycle of the curse. The Herald herself describes her origin, stating, “I was created by men, but born of a dragon. I was created by those who sought to defy fate.” She is recognized by her distinctive green hooded cloak and serves as a key narrator, often imparting vital information about the game world’s unfolding events.

Furthermore, there’s a popular theory suggesting that the Emerald Herald is, in fact, the old hag spinner featured in Dark Souls II’s opening cinematic, believed to be the fourth Fire Keeper.
