XSEED Games has announced that the Corpse Party: Tetralogy Pack is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch consoles in the US on October 28. This comprehensive collection bundles together all four visual novels from the chilling Heavenly Host saga. The included titles are Corpse Party, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash, and Corpse Party: Blood Drive. Notably, this release marks the debut of Corpse Party: Book of Shadows and Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash on the Switch platform. All four games in the pack have been enhanced with high-definition graphics and audio, retaining their original Japanese voice acting accompanied by English subtitles. Pre-orders for the $50 physical edition are currently available exclusively through Amazon. Given the rarity of physical releases for the Corpse Party series, rapid sell-outs are anticipated.
The Corpse Party: Tetralogy Pack provides all four remastered visual novels on a single Nintendo Switch game card. To reiterate, the collection comprises:
- Corpse Party (2021)
- Corpse Party: Book of Shadows (2011)
- Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko`s Hysteric Birthday Bash (2012)
- Corpse Party: Blood Drive (2014)
The physical edition will function identically to other Switch releases. As mentioned, physical copies are an Amazon exclusive, though digital pre-orders are also an option.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Corpse Party is a series of supernatural horror visual novels renowned for their branching narratives, multiple unsettling endings, and abundant scares and gruesome events. The inaugural game, Corpse Party, plunges players into the horrifying aftermath of a seemingly innocuous friendship ritual. High school student Ayumi Shinozaki and her friends find themselves tragically transported to a twisted alternate reality. Trapped within the sinister Heavenly Host Elementary, the group must brave their crumbling sanity and severe danger to uncover the truth behind the school’s horrific past murders if they ever hope to escape. The version featured in this collection is the 2021 PC release, itself the third remake of the original Corpse Party that debuted on the PS Vita in 2010.
Following this, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, released in 2011, offers an ambitious anthology. This installment functions simultaneously as a sequel, prequel, midquel, and an alternate universe story, providing new perspectives on pivotal events from the first game.
Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash from 2012 is presented as a midquel, taking place during the timelines of Corpse Party and Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. It recounts the story of a murderous birthday party hosted by Sachiko Shinozaki`s ghost at Heavenly Host Elementary.
Finally, Corpse Party: Blood Drive, launched in 2014, picks up two months after Book of Shadows. Conceived as the grand finale to the Heavenly Host story arc, its narrative weaves together themes of black magic, a looming apocalypse, and a desperate quest to revive fallen friends.
While Corpse Party: Blood Drive concludes the Heavenly Host storyline, it doesn`t signify the end of the entire franchise. A spiritual successor, Corpse Party 2: Darkness Distortion, is slated for a June 2026 release. This gives newcomers ample time to experience the preceding four games via the new collection. Darkness Distortion will once again be a visual novel, this time following three high school friends as they venture into the Amare Est Vivere Hospital, investigating a local urban legend. Fans can pre-order standard physical editions for Switch and PS5 at $50. Additionally, an $80 Ayame Mercy Limited Edition is available, which includes a reversible cover, a 64-page art book, an art card, an `evidence kit` containing in-game items, and a `candlelight` with a blue LED, all housed within a distinctive Amare Est Vivre Medical Kit metal outer case.
