College Football 26: Free Weekend Kicks Off New Season
A fantastic weekend is approaching for all college football fans, as the official first game weekend of the season kicks off. To fuel the excitement, EA Sports is making College Football 26 available for free to all players.
The promotion starts today, August 28, coinciding with the evening`s scheduled matches. The free weekend will run until Sunday, August 31. EA invites everyone to “try out all the new features, see the latest roster updates, and more.” The game is available for free on both platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Additionally, for this weekend only, EA is offering a discount on the Deluxe edition of College Football 26, reducing its price from $100 to $75. This version of the game includes various bonuses, such as Ultimate Team credits.
EA Sports also released the results of its seasonal simulation using College Football 26, which predicts that the Texas team will win the national championship in January 2026. This prediction is not overly bold, as Texas enters the season ranked No. 1 and, alongside Ohio State, is widely considered a favorite to win the title.
College Football 26 was the best-selling game in the US for July and currently ranks as the third best-selling game of 2025 in the US.
GameSpot`s review awarded the game an 8/10, with reviewer Richard Wakeling noting, “The presentation is excellent, with a fantastic attention to detail that helps differentiate each team.”
