During a recent Nintendo Direct briefing, Nintendo and Oink Games proudly unveiled “Chillin by the Fire,” a brand-new simulation game that is now available. This title is meticulously designed to replicate the peaceful and enjoyable experience of sitting around a cozy campfire.
For anyone familiar with the serene atmosphere of gathering with friends by a fire, this game aims to perfectly capture those comforting “good vibes.” However, it’s not simply a passive experience. Players are actively tasked with closely monitoring the airflow and moisture content of their firewood to ensure a smooth, consistent, and satisfying burn. Furthermore, “Chillin by the Fire” takes advantage of the Switch 2’s GameShare feature, allowing players to synchronize with friends and enjoy the virtual campfire together, with their real faces displayed on screen for an added personal touch.
To foster social interaction during multiplayer sessions, the game incorporates engaging “Campfire Convo” prompts. One particular prompt showcased in a promotional video asked: “Hey, by the way, is there a place that makes a sound you love?”
Naturally, no authentic campfire experience would be complete without the joy of roasting marshmallows. “Chillin by the Fire” fully supports this classic activity, enabling players to rotate their marshmallow precisely to achieve their desired level of crispness and golden perfection.
Gameplay Modes
The game offers three distinct modes to cater to different player preferences. The “Normal” mode focuses on the fundamental goal of nurturing and growing your fire. For those seeking a challenge, “Survival” mode provides players with a limited supply of firewood, testing their resource management skills. Lastly, “Playground” is a dynamic multiplayer mode where up to four participants can compete to build the largest and most impressive fire.
Visually, the game is enhanced with HDR support, which makes the warm, orange glow of the fire appear significantly brighter and more realistically vibrant. “Chillin by the Fire” is currently available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop for $15.
The July Nintendo Direct event also brought forth a host of other exciting announcements, including titles like “Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection” and “Once Upon a Katamari.” Additionally, details were shared regarding the Switch versions of popular games such as “Madden 26,” “Apex Legends,” and “Just Dance 2026,” among many others.
