The iconic Resident Evil franchise is nearing a significant milestone, as it will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. The very first game in the series launched on March 22, 1996, and since then, numerous titles have been released.
While a new installment, Resident Evil Requiem, is slated for release next year, Capcom is also preparing a special celebration for the series` three-decade mark. A dedicated anniversary website has been launched, though it currently offers limited content.
Visitors to the website will find a stunning artwork featuring many beloved protagonists from the franchise, including Leon Kennedy, Claire and Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and the new character Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil Requiem.
The site prominently displays a 30th-anniversary logo, along with text confirming “2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series!” An intriguing image of a sunglasses-wearing raccoon mascot accompanies a spinning disc, teasing “coming soon…”
With Resident Evil Requiem set for a February 27 release next year, major new game announcements for the anniversary are unlikely. However, fans can probably anticipate the release of special themed merchandise. As the 30th anniversary is only a few months away, further details on Capcom`s plans are expected to be revealed soon.
