Gamescom organizer Geoff Keighley has announced the worldwide reveal of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set to take place in August during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, beginning at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 8 PM CEST. The official Call of Duty account confirmed the announcement by posting an animated GIF with the message `See you soon.`
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was first unveiled in June at the Xbox Games Showcase. Activision deliberately avoided extensive pre-release hype, drawing inspiration from Beyoncé`s marketing strategy.
The game is set in 2035, and developers promise the most “mind-bending” storyline in the Black Ops series to date. This marks the first time Activision is releasing two Black Ops titles in consecutive years. The primary development studios for Black Ops 7 are Treyarch and Raven Software, who also worked on Black Ops 6 (2024).
In addition to the main game, updates for Call of Duty: Warzone tied to Black Ops 7 are expected. The new game`s trailer even includes a possible hint at a future Warzone map.
Black Ops 7 features a star-studded cast:
- Milo Ventimiglia (from `This Is Us`, `Gilmore Girls`) voices David Mason
- Kiernan Shipka (`Chilling Adventures of Sabrina`) plays Emma Kagan
- Michael Rooker (`Guardians of the Galaxy`) reprises his role as Mike Harper from Black Ops 2
The game will launch later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Although a Nintendo Switch 2 version has not yet been announced, Activision and Microsoft have reaffirmed their commitment to bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles.
