Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Devs Respond to Community Feedback on Unusual Skins

In recent years, the multiplayer experience in Call of Duty games has become notably vibrant with character customization, allowing players to equip their operators with skins resembling famous celebrities and pop culture icons. Alongside characters from franchises like WWE and the classic horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” unique original designs have also been introduced. This approach has garnered a mixed reaction from the player base. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 slated for release, Activision has addressed the situation, stating their commitment to listening to fan feedback and their intention to “calibrate” their offerings before the game`s November launch.

Miles Leslie, the associate creative director for Black Ops 7, shared with IGN that the development team has indeed considered the community`s opinions. He emphasized that they are constantly reviewing feedback to ensure they appeal to the broadest possible audience. Leslie, who has worked on Call of Duty for nearly two decades, noted their continuous efforts to engage diverse fan segments. While acknowledging that some players genuinely appreciate the unique cosmetic items, he also recognized that these might not be everyone`s preference. Leslie confirmed that the team plans to adjust their strategy going forward, taking all feedback seriously.

In a contrasting development, Battlefield 6`s design director, Shashank Uchil, indicated that their game would feature more “grounded” skins, drawing a direct comparison to Call of Duty`s often unusual DLC offerings. Uchil explicitly stated his view: “I don`t think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let`s keep it real, keep it grounded.” Many Call of Duty fans have echoed similar sentiments, pointing out the stark difference between the game`s current flamboyant state, with its abundance of commercially driven skins, and its original identity as a serious, gritty action title, which once featured historical quotes from figures like Winston Churchill.

In related news for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, a wealth of new information about the game was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live. This included updates to Call of Duty`s “Carry Forward” program, detailing how content will transfer between titles. Exciting new multiplayer features like wall-running were showcased, and players can also anticipate a new 20v20 game mode called Skirmish, which will incorporate wingsuits and grappling hooks for dynamic gameplay.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release on November 14, and will be available across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Prior to its full launch, a multiplayer beta for Black Ops 7 is planned for October.
